Harmony & Comping Strategies for the Jazz Guitarist
Workshop with Tim Lerch

Saturday July 24th—1:00 pm to 3:30 pm

This first in a series of workshops on Jazz Guitar Harmony with esteemed PNW musician/teacher/clinician Tim Lerch will lay out a system for unlocking the fingerboard. More than just a collection of memorized "grips" this system allows the guitarist to play fluid jazz harmony in any musical environment—a real advantage, especially in duos, trios, or solo situations.

In this workshop and those that follow, Tim guides you in developing a more expansive harmonic and rhythmic vocabulary and an understanding of chord substitutions and reharmonization. The workshop series includes learning how to create intros, turnarounds and endings, use better voice leading, incorporate counterpoint, and ultimately break out of the common "gripology" plaguing so many guitarists.

Cost is $35 (pre-registration required, seats limited).
